Spotlight on Savannah

Starlight child Savannah visits FuseHi, my name is Savannah. I'm 12 years old, I have Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis and I'm a Starlight kid.

The first time I heard about Starlight was when I was in the hospital. I was playing on the Starlight Fun Center they provided for me. It really helped to pass the time during a boring week-long stay.

Shortly after I left the hospital, I found out what else Starlight does and my family joined the Great Escapes family activties program. Starlight has helped make coping with my disease easier. Through Great Escapes, I have been able to do things and go places that I could not have if it wasn't for Starlight, and the best part is being able to have my Starlight friends and family come to all these cool places with me.

One of the things I will never forget was how Starlight arranged for me to be on the Fuse channel. I went to the show "The Sauce," and I got to do an interview with the hosts. It was really freakin' awesome. They gave me a tour of the offices and the sound room, and everyone was so nice.

Starlight provides everything - Great Escapes to museums, concerts, movies, fairs, the nail salon, ball games and more. All of these things help me keep my mind off my illness and they do the same thing for thousands of other sick kids.

The Starlight Children's Foundation has helped me and my family in ways we could never repay, and they've helped so many other kids too. I don't know how they do it, but I hope they will never stop!
