Starlight has a partnership with FirstGiving, an online portal that allows anyone to create a personal fundraising web page to raise money and awareness for the seriously ill children and families we serve. The pages are easy to set up!

Everyone who creates a FirstGiving fundraising page can share their unique personal story as to why they support Starlight. You’ll see there are endless ways to help:

1) Commit time and energy: run a marathon, participate in a tournament, set up a lemonade stand.

2) Celebrate an Occasion: initiate a giving challenge with your friends, have friends make donations in lieu of gifts for your birthday, bar mitzvah or wedding.

3) Make a personal pledge.

There can be as many different stories and fundraising ideas as there are people — each FirstGiving personal Web page is different.

Once you choose how you’d like to show your support, First Giving will provide all the tools you need to build your page. You can even add your favorite YouTube video or post pictures from your Flickr account.

Then, after you’ve created your page, encourage your friends and family members to join you in improving the lives of sick children and their families by contributing money in your honor. Send a note to a neighborhood group, or to members of your church or synagogue — the list of possibilities is endless! And, if you’re a Facebook member, add the First Giving application to your profile to help spread the word about your efforts. A thermometer on the page even helps track progress toward your goal.

However you choose to show support, your First Giving web page will help Starlight raise funds and awareness that will make a real difference in the lives of seriously ill children and their families.
