GlaxoSmithKline provided an unrestricted educational grant for the development and dissemination of the Quest for the Code CD-ROM, Starlight Starbright's highly successful asthma education program for children and teens.
Asthma is a national epidemic that affects more than five million children. Since 2002, Starlight Starbright has disseminated more than 600,000 copies of Quest for the Code to children with asthma, their families, schools and health care professionals.
Studies have found that children who used Quest for the Code increased their knowledge of asthma management, felt a greater responsibility toward managing their disease, and could cite examples of better management behaviors such as avoiding their asthma triggers and consistently taking their medication.
